A Palestine Jewish football team is to play in America soon if arrangements undertaken will be completed. Alieser Yellin, head of the Maccabee football players, sailed yesterday for America to make the necessary arrangements, Mr. Yellin will also represent the Palestine teachers’ publishing enterprise.
It was also announced today that Mr. Golinkan, founder and director of the Palestine Hebrew Opera, will soon sail for America. Due to the economic conditions in the country, the players of the Hebrew Opera Company are leaving for other places and there will be no opera here next season. Mr. Golinkan will seek funds in America to reopen the Palestine Opera.
NATHAN STRAUS HONORED BY HADASSAH TODAY
New York Zionists will pay tribute to Nathan Straus and Mrs. Straus for their part in the rebuilding of Palestine at a celebration at which they will be the guests of honor in the Hotel Commodore this afternoon. The celebration is being sponsored by the Brooklyn chapter of Hadassah, the Women’s Zionist Organization, in recognition of Mr. Straus’ latest gift to Palestine, the Nathan and Lina Straus Health Center for all races and creeds.
Mr. Straus will make his first public address since his return from Palestine at tomorrow’s celebration.
Mrs. Irma L. Lindheim, national Hadassah president, and Dr. David de Sola Pool, rabbi of the Spanish Portuguese Synagogue, will be the speakers. Mrs. Adolf Slomka, president of the Brooklyn Hadassah chapter, will preside.
