Palestine Government Allotting Huge Sums to Stimulate Agricultural Production

The Palestine Government will allot huge sums to enable local agriculture to compete with imports after the war, it was stated today by R. Mason, director of agriculture for the Palestine administration.

Mason said that the government was especially interested in stimulating the production of wheat and barley. He revealed that 100 tractors have been ordered from United States firms to facilitate the cultivation of larger areas. Discussing the situation of the orange growers, Mason said that the government will continue its loans and subsidies in order to assist the growers to maintain themselves until after the war, when exports can be resumed.
