The Palestine Government today announced the deportation from the country of 251 persons arrested as terrorist or for complicity in terrorist activity. The announcement added that during the last two months 118 members of the terrorist group, Irgun Z’vai Leumi, have been arrested throughout Palestine.

The deportation was carried out “in the interest of public security and safety of life and property in Palestine,” the official announcement stated.

Simultaneously, the government announced that air raid sirens will be sounded to give the public warning of any terrorist acts. In Jerusalem, the system of sounding sirens will be introduced today, while in other towns it will be placed in effect as soon as possible. When the sirens are sounded, police and military units will take pre-arranged action to halt all traffic. The public will then be required to report to the nearest authorities any suspicious occurrences, so as to make it easier for the police to capture fleeing terrorist.
