An important change will shortly be made by the Palestine government in the regulation of immigration to the country, it was learned today.
The Colonial Office has approved, according to the report, the proposal of the Palestine government to abolish the permit section and to transfer all matters concerning immigration to the jurisdiction of the police department.
The proposal was motivated by a desire for economy.
Leaders of the Jewish population here feel, however, that the curtailment of the immigration department may affect the immigration situation as the police would not be in a position to handle the problem adequately.
ORT CONFERENCE TO HEAR REPORT ON COLONIZATION
An exhaustive study of colonization activities in Russia will be presented at the national conference of the Ort which will be held at the Hotel Pennsylvania on October 24 by the American delegation which attended the Ort Congress in Berlin during August.
The delegation will also report on the Ort technical and trade schools in Poland and agricultural conditions in Roumania.
