The eighty-fifth birthday of President Masaryk of Czechoslovakia was enthusiastically celebrated in Palestine today.
A large mass meeting arranged by the Executive of the Jewish Agency opened the celebration. Representatives of Czechoslovakia as well as Jewish leaders were among the speakers at the meeting, at which Professor Masaryk’s sympathies for Jews and for Zionism were highly praised.
Special prayers for Professor Masaryk were said at the Wailing Wall in Jerusalem by religious Jews, wishing the Czechoslovakian president a long life.
The entire Hebrew press of Palestine today devoted long editorials to Masaryk, emphasizing his fight for human rights and for the rebirth of the Czechoslovakian nation.
