The Palestine question as a whole may not be raised at the forthcoming session of the U.N. General Assembly in September unless the three-man Conciliation Commission, appointed to negotiate an Arab-Israeli peace, specifically requests the Assembly to put it on the agenda, it was emphasized at a press conference here today by Andrew Cordier, Assistant U.N. Secretary-General. However, he pointed out that the Assembly was bound to give attention to the Jerusalem aspect of the Palestine issue.
Acting U.N. Secretary-General Byron Price denied today that the United Nations received a request from the Swedish Government to take action on the unsolved assassination of the late Count Folke Bernadotte, U.N. mediator for Palestine. He also stated that the Security Council has not been asked to intervene in the still-deadlocked Israeli-Syrian armistice talks. He announced that he would issue today another appeal to member states to expedite their contributions to the U.N. relief fund for Arab refugees.
