Palestine Jewry requires $30,000,000 monthly carry on its defense and building activities, Dr. Israel Goldstein, United Palestine Appeal national chairman, just returned from Tel Aviv, disclosed to a U.P.A. executive committee meeting this weekend.
Reporting on conditions in Palestine where he attended emergency sessions the Zionist Actions Committee, Dr. Goldstein declared: “In the midst of war, Jewish immigrants continue to pour in, and building activity for the first three ##ths of 1948 has exceeded any similar period in previous years. There is no employment. The morale of the entire Jewish Community is strong.”
The U.P.A. chairman added however, that “there is a desperate need for Jewish,” which has caused “the Yishuv itself to launch a $20,000,000 internal loan.”
