Palestine Jewry will usher in the New Year with a day of prayer and mourning for their persecuted co-religionists in Germany. Since Jan. I coincides with the Tenth of Teveth in the Hebrew calendar, a fast day, the rabbinical councils have proclaimed a general day of prayer for the oppressed German Jews, coupled with appeals to Britain to permit increased immigration of refugees to Palestine.
Jewish stevedores in Haifa stopped unloading cargo from the German freighter S.S. Barmbek after the Second Officer had remarked: “There is no room for Jews but in heaven.” the stevedores intend to boycott German ships in the future.
