A source close to the government has disclosed that some $20,000,000 worth ?f surplus British army supplies have beer offered to the Jewish Agency, The supplies include 25 scout planes, light armored cars, barbed wire and other material. However. only eight or nine of the planes are fit for immediate use and the others ?ed extensive repairs or must be scrapped. The surplus supplies were originally offered to either the Arabs or the Jews, but the former refused to buy them.
(A Foreign Office spokesman said in London tonight that should it be true that the Agency has been offered surplus British arms, the sales would be directly contrary ?o British policy. Some sources in London were sceptical concerning the accuracy of the report.)
