The Zionist Executive and the National Council of Palestine Jews today issued a statement expressing gratitude to the British forces in Palestine for restoring order in the country. The statement read:
“Now that calm reigns in Palestine, the Palestine Zionist Executive and the Vaad Leumi desire to give expression to the deep gratitude felt by Palestine Jewry in regard to the effective help afforded by the units of the British naval, military and air forces in restoring order in the country after the unprovoked attack on the Jewish community during the recent riots, generally protecting life and property.

“The Zionist Executive and the Vaad Leumi regret that many members of the British naval, military and air forces saw Palestine for the first time under such tragic circumstances and hope they will be able to visit the country again under happier conditions and witness the progress of the Jewish work, settlement and social development. At the same time it is desired to record the appreciation felt by the responsible bodies for transmission to many British citizens who voluntarily enrolled themselves as special constables, being engaged night after night in helping to afford protection to the inhabitants,” the statement declared.
