Palestine Jewry has contributed £1,000,000 ($5,000,000) since the outbreak of disorders in the spring of 1936 to subscription campaigns for support of Jewish national funds and institutions, Leib Jaffe, director of the Palestine Foundation Fund, told the Jewish Telegraphic Agency.
Mr. Jaffe also stated that the Foundation Fund’s net proceeds received in Palestine from the Diaspora in the Hebrew year just past totalled nearly £500,000 ($2,500,000).
Mayor Israel Rokach of Tel Aviv announced that the Kofer Hayishub, Zionist defense fund, had raised and spent $250,000 during august and September. The budget for the remained of the year calls for expenditure of an additional $400,000 to equip and maintain volunteers, improve defenses and build roads.
