Jews in Palestine will recite their Yom Kippur prayers tonight and tomorrow at a repaired Wailing Wall.
Workmen, last week, completed laying a 38-meter-long row of stones along the top of the Wall, above the portion built onto the original by Sir Moses Montefiore in the last century. At the Herthern and of the Wall stones were laid to a depth of several courses. The new stones have been laid to guard against the falling of loose stones. The lower courses of the Wailing Wall which form part of the enclosure of the Holy Temple have been cleaned of moss and grass that have sprouted in the cracks.
The headquarters of the Jewish National Fund today sent a message of thanks to the JNF in America for the $250,000 cabled last week from New York as a New Year’s gift to the Jews of Palestine.
