Allocation of State Lands for Jewish Colonization Depends on Survey (Jewish Telegraphic Agency)
The completion of the Palestine land survey, upon which, according to the explanation of the mandatory power, the allotment of state and waste land for Jewish colonization depends, will take ten years, according to Col. Symes, Chief Secretary of the Palestine Government.
Col. Symes in an interview with the representative of the Arab paper, “Merat UI Sherk,” stated that the Palestine government has allocated the amount of £50,000 annually for the next ten years for the purpose of completing the government land survey. Once this survey will be completed, all confusion in the court cases concerning the ownership of land will be eliminated, he said.
It is impossible to complete the survey sooner, the Chief Secretary explained, because it entails considerable work and also because of the fact that many owners of Palestine land who live abroad must be given an opportunity to settle their affairs.
