The Levant Fair 1932, the Fifth Palestine and Near East Exhibition and Fair, which is being held under the patronage of the High Commissioner, will be opened by the High Commissioner in Tel Aviv to-morrow, April 7th, says a proclamation issued to the population of Palestine by the organisers of the Exhibition.

In these days of aeroplanes and rapid communications, the proclamation proceeds, no country canisolate itself within its own narrow boundaries; each individual economic activity and each individual enterprise forms but a component part of the world economic organism, an integral link in the chain of world markets, world trade, industry, agriculture and finance. Our small country, too, though economically young and little-developed, is intimately bound up with the economic movements of the outer world, and subject to the influence of general world fluctuations. It is an essential condition for progness, that our best endeavours be used to forge permanent links of trade with the world and to follow up all developments and innovations in the industrial and agricultural fields in other countries.

The Levant Fair is devoted to this purpose. The Fair will serve as a commercial rally for the countries of East and West, and as a meeting ground for producers and consumers from parts as distant as New York and Baghdad, the Far East and Eastern Europe. The contacts thus established will help to create new markets for the produce of our own country, and lend a powerful stimulus to progress and improvement in our industry and agriculture.

Manufacturers, artisans, and cultivators in Palestine must boar in mind that their participation in the Fair is to their own interest and advantage. The Fair will provide a unique opportunity for each producer to learn from his fellows. It will foster among the producers a healthy spirit of competition towards improving the quality and methods of salesmanship, and reducing costs. No less significance attaches to the Fair from the point of view of the approach it offers to the attention of the wide consuming public.

The main sections of the Levant Exhibition and Fair are the agricultural section, the general industrial section, sections for industrial machinery and electrical motors, electric installation and appliances, the radio salon, automobile salon, motor cycles and cycles section, chemical, industries, typewriters, sewing and adding machines, etc., textiles and musical instruments.

The Levant Fair will also serve to illustrate the progress made in Palestine cultural life. It will contain diagrams, models, photographs and other exhibits, demonstrating the results which have been achieved in education, social work, hygiene, and co-operative development.

All citizens of Palestine, the proclamation concludes, are invited to collaborate in this great enterprise, symbolic of peaceful labour and of progress accomplished in this country in all fields of activity Citizens of Palestine, the Levant Exhibition and Fair is devoted to the advancement of your common good!
