JEWS THROUGHOUT PALESTINE OBSERVED TODAY THE TWENTIETH ANNIVERSARY OF THE BALFOUR DECLARATION, WHICH PLEDGED GREAT BRITAIN TO FACILITATE ESTABLISHMENT OF A JEWISH NATIONAL HOME IN PALESTINE.
HEBREW NEWSPAPERS CARRIED ARTICLES AND EDITORIALS, PAYING TRIBUTE TO LORD BALFOUR, WHO WAS BRITISH FOREIGN SECRETARY AT THE TIME a HE MADE THE DECLARATION IN COMMUNICATION TO THE LATE LORD ROTHSCHILD.
THE PAPERS WERE UNANIMOUS IN DECLARING THE DECLARATION COULD NOT BE LIQUIDATED AND CALLING UPON WORLD JEWRY AND THE LOCAL JEWISH COMMUNITY TO CONTINUE IN THE WORK OF UPBUILDING THE JEWISH NATIONAL HOME.
UNLIKE RECENT YEARS THERE WERE NO ARAB DEMONSTRATIONS. JEWISH PUBLIC BUILDINGS IN JERUSALEM AND TEL AVIV WERE DECORATED WITH ZIONIST AND BRITISH BANNERS.
