The Palestine police tonight arrested seven suspected terrorists in raids on Rishon L’Zion and Petach Tikvah, two of the oldest all-Jewish townships in Palestine.
Police raids continued, meanwhile, in Jerusalem, in the section where Yemenite Jews reside. About 200 persons were detained for questioning, but only six of them were still being held at the end of the day.
Chief Rabbi Isaac Herzog of Palestine and Dr. J.L. Magnes, leader of the Ichud group, which advocates the establishment of Palestine as a bi-national Arab-Jewish state, met separately today with High Commissioner Sir Alan Cunningham for discussion of the situation in the country. The Chief Rabbi spent a full hour with the High Commissioner.
Black-bordered mourning notices have been distributed as handbills in Tel Aviv, announcing the death of two Jewish terrorists. Their names were given as Corporal Abner of the “Irgun Eval Leumi” Jewish underground military organization, and Samuel of the Stern Group.
