NEW LEGISLATION TO REGULATE IMMIGRATION INTO PALESTINE IS UNDER PREPARATION, IT WAS DISCLOSED IN THE HOUSE OF COMMONS TODAY BY COLONIAL SECRETARY WILLIAM ORMSBY-GORE.

A LAW GIVING THE PALESTINE HIGH COMMISSIONER POWER TO CONTROL LAND TRANSACTIONS IS ALSO BEING PREPARED, THE COLONIAL SECRETARY SAID IN REPLY TO A QUESTION BY COL. JOSIAH WEDGWOOD, LABORITE, ON WHAT WAS BEING DONE TO CARRY OUT REFORMS PROPOSED BY THE ROYAL COMMISSION IN ITS RECENTLY PUBLISHED 404-PAGE REPORT ON PALESTINE.

MR. ORMSBY-GORE REVEALED THAT CHANGES IN THE COUNTRY’S DISTRICT ADMINISTRATION, AS RECOMMENDED BY THE ROYAL COMMISSION, WERE BEING EFFECTED. HE DENIED COL. WEDGWOOD’S ASSERTION THAT THE RECOMMENDATIONS FOR REFORM OF THE ADMINISTRATION WOULD BE LEFT UNTIL PARTITION OF THE COUNTRY WAS CARRIED OUT, WHILE ONLY THOSE “INCONVENIENT” TO THE JEWS WOULD BE IMMEDIATELY IMPLEMENTED.
