All the Hebrew newspapers today carried editorials sharply criticizing the new restrictions on immigration contemplated by the Palestine Government.
The regulations which it was learned, are now being prepared, would curb entry of relatives of citizens, double the minimum necessary for entry in the capitalist category, oblige tourists to post a $400 deposit and invalidate immigration certificates if not used with in a specified period.
The editorials quoted the Jewish Telegraphic Agency report on the contemplated restrictions, stating that there are “grave indications” of the correctness of the report.
The Government had promised to issue a statement on the matter to the Jewish Telegraphic Agency yesterday, but so far the statement has not been forthcoming.
