The British Government will announce tomorrow a new Palestine policy based on abandonment of the partition scheme and continuation of the league of nations mandate, it was understood tonight on reliable authority. The government will express its readiness to facilitate Arab-Jewish cooperation and immigration in consultation with Arab and Jewish representatives in London.
This was learned after Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain had informed the House of Commons that the statement of policy would be published tomorrow together with the report of the Palestine Partition Commission. Parliament debate on the: question will follow “after an interval,” Mr. Chamberlain said.
Earlier in the day, King George VI, in his speech from the throne opening the session of Parliament, advised that “my ministers will shortly lay before you the report of the Palestine Commission and will make a statement of future policy.”
