The achievements of Sir Herbert Samuel during his term as High Commissioner of Palestine have brought him to the leadership of the English Liberal Party.
This fact was related by David Lloyd George, former Prime Minister, who presided last night at a banquet given by the Liberal Party of the City of London to Sir Herbert.
“During the five years of his administration in Palestine, a country full of dissensions, suspicions and jealousies, he succeeded in persuading the people to subordinate the interests of factions to the general interest. Therefore, the Liberals have taken him as leader. I do everything to help him and if all Liberals will do likewise, a great triumph awaits Liberalism,” Lloyd George stated.
