Authorities Yield to Zionist Protest Against Proposed Agreement (Jewish Telegraphic Agency)

Manufacturers and merchants in Palestine today welcomed a report which has not yet been verified that the Palestine government has decided to abandon the new Syria-Palestine trade agreement which was to create a customs barrier between Palestine and Syria.

It was stated in well informed circles that the decision of the Palestine government was taken following the representations made by the Zionist Executive on the basis of the resolutions adopted at the Fifteenth Zionist Congress, at which it was pointed out that the putting into effect of this trade agreement would endanger the existence of several manufacturing industries and prevent the establishment of new industries in Palestine.
