“A great power will be created in the Near East when the Arabs and the Jews will come to an understanding in Palestine,” was the statement made by Abdul Aziz Salebi, the famous Arab leader of Tunis, in an interview given to the correspondent of the Palestine Telegraphic Agency.
“As the situation stands now,” he said, “the plan to creat a pan-Arabic Confederation is merely a dream. King Hussein was elected Caliph only by a small minority, and the real question of the Caliphate will be decided, not before next year, when the general Moslem Conference will be held in Cairo.”
Abdul Aziz Salebi further stated that he has all sympathy for religious Zionism, which is a peaceable movement, but not so much for political Zionism, which is of a more aggressive nature. Palestine, in his opinion, should be like Switzerland.
