The temporary presidium of the newly-formed non-partisan “United National Front” planned today to open branches all over the country in a campaign to support Pinchas Rutenberg’s proposal for Palestine Jewish unity. The organization was established yesterday on the initiative of 300 persons after a two-day conference here.
The Front’s program was outlined by Gustave Schocken, son of Zalman Schocken and editor-in-chief of the Hebrew daily Haaretz.
The organization supports Pinchas Rutenberg and aims at (1) unity of the Yishub, regardless of class and political sympathies, (2) replacement of the present administration based on numerical strength of parties, by a non-partisan administration, (3) cooperation on all economic matters, particularly between employers and laborers and among laborers themselves, by establishment of general labor exchanges, (4) a unified taxation system, (5) support of the military recruiting campaign.
