Prime Minister Nuri Pasha of Iraq is reported today to have stated in Baghdad that a Jewish State will never be established in Palestine and that nobody thinks of establishing it.
According to a Baghdad dispatch appearing in the Palestine Post, Nuri Pasha also pointed out that immigration to Palestine is now limited and added that “this policy had not changed, and God willing, would not change.”
The Iraqian Prime Minster, to whom Palestine Arab nationalists last week addressed a memorandum asking him to secure the support of the United States for the “freezing” of the Jewish population of Palestine as of March, 1944 under the provisions of the British White Paper, made his statement in reply to a question on what he thought would be the post-war status of Palestine. The Palestine Post adds that Nuri Pasha is proceeding shortly from Baghdad to Cairo to discuss the problem of establishing a Pan-Arab Union.
Meanwhile, increased immigration of Jewish refugees from Nazi Europe was demanded here today by leaders of the orthodox Agudas Israel Organization during a visit which they paid to the Chief Secretary of the Palestine Government.
