First consignment of liquor since repeal became effective was shipped from Palestine yesterday, reopening the lucrative American market to Jewish wine growers in the Holy-land.
The initial shipment was ordered by the D. & B. Distillery Corporation, headed by Harry Mottsman. The contract calls for 3,000,000 bottles to be imported this year. Palestinian wine circles hail the order with glee, foreseeing Palestine’s best trade in many years. Until the end of the war Russia and the United States were two of the principal Palestinian wine markets.
