Palestine’s championship soccer team, Hapoel, which arrived here yesterday, was welcomed by Mayor William O’Dwyer today at City Hall.
Sponsored by the Jewish National Workers Alliance and the American Soccer League, Hapoel’s good-will tour will get underway May 4 at the Yankee Stadium when the group meets an all-star American team. Games are also scheduled for other major cities, including Chicago, Philadelphia, San Francisco and Los Angeles. Part of the toun’s proceeds will be used to erect a modern sports stadium in Tel Aviv.
