Palestinian Authority Chairman Yasser Arafat called on Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to accept a U.S. peace proposal during talks planned for London next week. Speaking after a meeting in the Gaza Strip with Egyptian Foreign Minister Amre Moussa, Arafat said he would accept the reported American proposal for an Israeli redeployment from an additional 13 percent of the West Bank, even though it falls far below his expectations. Arafat appealed to Netanyahu to make a similar gesture to move the peace process forward.
