Palestinian Authority President Yasser Arafat personally participated in a recent meeting at which Palestinian security officials planned attacks against Israeli targets, according to the Israeli daily Ma’ariv. Arafat’s Fatah party, meanwhile, denied reports that Arafat had ordered an end to mortar attacks on Israeli communities. Palestinians fired at least eight mortars at Gaza settlements over the weekend, according to the Jerusalem Post.
