Palestinian gunmen attacked a U.N.-run school in the Gaza Strip. A group of assailants, described as Muslim extremists, threw grenades at a sports event at the United Nations Relief and Works Agency school in Rafah on Sunday, killing one and wounding six, including at least one student.
Palestinian officials said the attackers were religious vigilantes with suspected al-Qaida links who were outraged at the coed studies in the school. A recent slew of Palestinian attacks on UNRWA and other international targets in Gaza has prompted many foreigners to flee the territory.
