Palestinian gunmen launched mortar bomb and anti-tank grenade attacks on Israeli settlements and army posts in the Gaza Strip, according to Israeli officials. One Palestinian was killed and three Israeli soldiers were wounded in the fighting. The scattered violence took place after security officials from both sides, meeting the night before, failed to find ways to halt the fighting.
