Palestinian police arrested the leader of Hamas after the group issued a statement demanding the resignation of Palestinian Authority officials. The arrest is the latest sign of tension between the two groups stemming from last week’s murder of a Hamas bomb-maker, Mohiyedine Sharif. Palestinian Authority sources say a suspected Hamas activist confessed to involvement in Sharif’s murder. Hamas rejects the findings and vows to avenge Sharif’s death by spreading “sadness and horror” throughout Israel.
