Palestinians held demonstrations Tuesday in the West Bank and Gaza Strip to mark Land Day. March 30 has been an annual day of protest since 1976, when Arab residents of the Galilee held a strike to protest Israeli land confiscations. In one demonstration Tuesday, Palestinian youths in the West Bank village of Beit Omar threw stones at Israeli troops, who responded with rubber bullets and tear gas. No clashes were reported during the Gaza protests.
