Palo Alto Dedicates Its First Synagogue

This community, seat of Stanford University, has taken the initial step toward establishment of a Jewish Community Center by dedicating its first synagogue.

Impressive dedicatory services took place here with leaders of Jewish affairs in Palo Alto and San Francisco participating. The new synagogue, known as Temple Beth Jacob, has for its spiritual leader Kenneth Zwerin. Joseph Blachman is president of the board of trustees.

At a banquet which followed the formal dedication, addresses were made by Rabbi Elliot M. Burstein, president of the Northern California Board of Jewish Ministers; Arnold Perstein of the University of California; and Edgar C. Levey of San Francisco. Cantor Louis J. Carmel rendered vocal selections.
