Jerusalem’s Black Panthers threatened today to “explode” the World Zionist Congress which opens here Jan. 17 unless the organization of slum dwellers is permitted to address the forum. The threat was made during a demonstration at Menorah Square which drew some 500 persons and was dispersed by the police after one Panther leader exhorted the crowd to riot.
The Panther leaders claimed that they represented the underprivileged classes of Israel and said they would demonstrate outside the Congress hall. The pretext for tonight’s demonstration was the reduction in money allocated for education and welfare by the government.
