An attempt to stir religious prejudice in Vilna was made by the “Dziennik Wilenski,” anti-Semitic daily, which published a report that two Jewish boys, Isaac Katz and Mendel Waratz, of Witol Street 43, had buried a dead bird, erecting a cross on the grave. This report was found to be without foundation.
The paper makes an issue of the invented report, asserting that Jews had profaned the Catholic religion.
Plans for a hospital in Newark, N. J., to be known as The Home for the Chronic Sick, were announced by the Friendly Sisters, a Jewish women’s organization. The site will be selected in the autumn.
