The Minister-President of Hesse, Dr. George August Zinn, came in for heavy criticism today from his own Social Democratic Party. The party hit its leader for having pardoned Hans Bodo Gorgass, convicted of the mass murder of thousands of Jews and others in the so called Hadamar Sanatorium during 1940 and 1941.
Gorgasz was once sentenced to death for his crimes against humanity and, in 1949, had his sentence commuted to life imprisonment. The provincial Minister-President is reported to have acted to release the ex-doctor on the grounds that he had shown repentance.
