The parents of George Beurling, famed Canadian war are who was killed in a plane crash near Rome while en route to Israel to fight for the Israeli air force, today granted the Israeli Government permission to transport the body of their son to the Jewish state for burial. A message from Haganah headquarters in New York asking the parents’ permission said of the late flier: "He died in the line of duty, reflecting honor and courage on the family name and leaving with his comrades the inspiration to carry on."
