City Councilman Louis Darquier de Pellepoix, publisher of the anti-Semitic weekly, France Enchainee, and his collaborator, Pierre Gerard, declared to day they planned appeals, up to the Supreme Court if necessary, against the sentences imposed on them yesterday by the Correctional Court for violating the decree forbidding racial incitement through an article in de Pellepoix’s newspaper.

The press generally did not comment on the trial, but the Royalist newspaper, Action Francaise, severely criticized the verdict, declaring it was undoubtedly intended as an example to others. De Pellepoix was sentenced to three months’ imprisonment, Gerard to 30 days and both were fined 500 francs.
