Joseph Lieberberg, Soviet Jewish leader, was elected president of the Biro-Bidjan Regional Executive, Committee at the closing session today of the All Biro-Bidjan Soviet Congress in the town of Biro-Bidjan.
Other members of the executive committee include M. Lavrentieff, head of the Far Eastern Communist party; S. Dimantsein, member of the All-Union Executive Committee, highest body in the Soviet Union; President Michael Kalinin and M. Anshin, secretary of the committee.
Lieberberg and J. Khavkin were elected to represent Biro-Bidjan at the All-Union Soviet Congress. Khavkin will represent the autonomous Jewish territory on the National Minorities Council.
The new executive body is the government of the region.
Instead of adopting resolutions on the progress of the work in colonizing Jews in the autonomous area, the conference issued an appeal to all workers in the region to help in deciding on concrete plans for the work during the coming year.
