An army official said today that participants in the June war will be given a campaign ribbon, a red-blue decoration centered with the white and blue stripes of the national colors, to be distributed near the end of October. For many Israelis it will be a third campaign ribbon to add to those earned for action in the 1948 Liberation War and the 1956 Suez campaign.
Brig. Shmuel Eyal, head of the army’s manpower department, also reported that hundreds of citations for bravery during the June war were now being studied by a special panel of senior army officers. Recipients will be decorated in September, he added.
