Passengers arriving on the LOT (Polish) airliner at Lydda yesterday were welcomed here last night at a reception attended by Polish Consul-General Hulanitzky, representatives of the Jewish Agency for Palestine, the municipality and various financial institutions.
Mayor Israel Rokach asked Poland’s assistance in maintaining in Palestine an open door to Jewish immigration. Siegfried Hoofien, manager of the Anglo-Palestine Bank, urged closer economic relations between the Holy Land and Poland.
The plane, which took off from Warsaw at five a.m. Monday to open a regular Polish-Palestine air service, arrived at Lydda airport yesterday afternoon to be met with an enthusiastic reception.
Among the passengers was a priest, M. Kaczinsky, editor of the Catholic News Agency, who replied to welcomers in Hebrew. A special Jewish Telegraphic Agency representative was also on board, together with a number of other journalists.
