Distribution of Passover food supplies to more than three thousand poor families will be made all day today by the Samuel Rubel Passover Relief Fund, which is being administered by the United Jewish Aid Societies, according to an announcement by Nathan D. Shapiro, president of the Brooklyn Federation of Jewish Charities. A fund of $30,000 has been set aside for this purpose by Samuel Rubel.
In addition to the 3,235 baskets which will be distributed to individual families, bulk supplies for the Passover period will be distributed to fifteen Jewish institutions, including a number of orphan homes, homes for the aged, hospitals and day nurseries, Mr. Shapiro said.
Baskets have been prepared by a committee of twenty-five volunteers, representing various charitable and relief societies, who spent three full days preparing them. Each basket, in accordance with the recommendation of the Home Economics Department of the United Jewish Aid Societies, will contain 20 pounds of matzoths and matzoth flour, 6 dozen eggs, a 5-pound chicken, and accessories.
