Having received the Chief Army Chaplain’s instructions on how to observe Passover on the front lines, in tanks and even in ambushes, the Israeli Army is prepared for observance of a kosher seder tomorrow night. The chaplain, Rabbi Shlomo Goren, advised soldiers on battle lines to hold seders in two shifts to allow as much participation as possible. He said soldiers in tanks should listen to Haggadah readings by one of them over their intercom earpieces. And men embarking on ambushes should carry matzoh and marror (bitter herbs) with them to say blessings. Special arrangements were also made for men in anti-aircraft and Hawk missiles. Front line soldiers, incidentally, will receive grape juice instead of wine.
