Passover Supplies for Jews in Western Sectors of Berlin Flown in by U.S. “airlift”

Passover supplies were flown into the American, British and French sectors of Berlin in U.S. Air Force “airlift” planes, it was revealed here by the European headquarters of the Joint Distribution Committee.

The planes transported some 30,000 pounds of matzohs and matzoh flour and some 3,000 quarts of Palestinian wine, all contributed by the J.D.C. The ration will amount to one five-pound parcel of matzohs, one pound of matzoh flour and one quart of wine to each person. In addition, each will receive one pound of fat for the holiday period.

J.D.C. headquarters here also disclosed that the organization is distributing some 3,000,000 pounds of food to Jews in 12 European countries and various parts of North Africa. The Passover budget of the J.D.C. this year amounts to $300,000.
