The Jewish Community Council of this city is celebrating this week the ninetieth anniversary of the elimination from the New Jersey constitution of the religious test oath for all office holders in this State.
Charles H. Roemer, president of the Council, says, “It offers a splendid opportunity to call the attention of the citizens of our community to the progress of democracy that has been made in this country. This episode is particularly worth remembering in view of the fact that so much intolerance seems to be sweeping across the world.”
