The longstanding dispute between the Vaad Kashruth ahd Rabbi Leisor Shotland on one side, and the Vaad Hakohl and Rabbi William Wittenstein on the other side, has been ended this week by the arbitration committee which was appointed by leading Jewish organizations of Paterson to bring order into the kashruth situation of this city.

To avoid differences about the slaughtering of kosher meat in Paterson in the future a board of appeals will be organized to whom all such disputes will be referred. The board will be composed of one representative of each existing Orthodox synagogue of Paterson, two representatives from the Congregation Temple Emanuel, one representative from the Barnert Memorial Temple and one representative from the local B’nai Brith lodge.

It was also decided that there shall be only one organization in the city of Paterson in charge of Kashruth and that this particular organization shall be the Vaad Hakashruth as now constituted, but including four members of the Water street organization.
