A drive to raise $15,000 for local and overseas relief will be inaugurated March 25 by the Jewish Community Council. Harry K. Hecht has been named chairman and will be assisted by Samuel Rachles, Rabbi Max Zucker and Morris Novitsky.
It required $161,886.98 to operate the Barnert Memorial Hospital last year, it was reported by Jacob Cohn, president. A daily average of 93 patients was maintained in 1934. Nearly $40,000 was spent in treating free patients.
The local B’nai B’rith Lodge will observe “Maimonides Night” tomorrow night. Rabbi Max Raisin will be guest speaker.
