Paul Felix Warburg, son of Felix M. Warburg, and Ira M. Younker have accepted the chairmanship of the 1932 drive of the Federation for the Support of Jewish Philanthropic Societies to complete its budget of $3,923,000 for the support of 91 affiliated philanthropic institutions, it was announced yesterday by former Justice Joseph M. Proskauer, president of Federation.
The appeal for funds will open on October 16 and will continue until January 1.
The critical situation confronting all organized philanthropies has prompted two departures for this year’s campaign of the Federation, Judge Proskauer explained. The chairmanship will be filled by two of the younger men who have been active in Federation work and they will have the assistance and counsel of a group of the elder statesmen of Federation in the Steering Committee announced recently, consisting of Felix M. Warburg, Percy S. Straus, Arthur Lehman, Sol M. Stroock and George Blumenthal.
“It is especially gratifying in such an emergency to have two younger men of demonstrated capacity and loyal interest accept the heavy responsibilities which the chairmanship of our campaign involves this year,” Mr. Proskauer said.
“Paul Felix Warburg, of course, follows in the footsteps of an illustrious father, whose service in the cause of every human activity over a long period of years is so well known. Mr. Younker has been active in Federation affairs for a number of years. He is a vice-president of Federation and knows every problem with which the institutions and the Federation are called on to deal.”
Paul Felix Warburg has long taken an interest in many of the philanthropic activities in which his father has been a leader.
