John W. Pehle, executive director of the War Refugee Board, today was assigned supervision over the Treasury Procurement Division, the Treasury Department announced today. He will continue to serve as head of the WRB, but will assume his new duties immediately.
A spokesman for the WRB said that it would mean no change as far as the activities of the Board. Although Pehle will not be able to spend as much of his personal time on refugee matters, he has a good staff which will continue to function, the Board spokesman said. It was pointed out that the work of the Board is no longer as heavy as it was initially since the areas in which it is necessary and possible to operate have been so reduced by liberating Allied armies.
