Pennsylvania prosecutors charged Richard Scott Baumhammers with homicide in the murders of five minorities, including one Jew, in a shooting spree last Friday near Pittsburgh. Baumhammers, who pleaded not guilty to the charges, was also charged with seven counts of ethnic intimidation under Pennsylvania’s hate crimes law. Baumhammers’ lawyer has indicated he plans to mount an insanity defense.
